Hi, I’m Sezin Sevimli.

I am an MA Researcher in English Language Teaching at Middle East Technical University. My research centers on Conversation Analysis, multimodal interaction, and English as a Medium of Instruction, with a particular interest in higher education and classroom discourse.

About Me

My academic journey has been shaped by a TUBITAK1001 project that intrigued me about how people communicate, collaborate, and learn. I am currently pursuing my MA in English Language Teaching at Middle East Technical University (METU), and I investigate interaction in higher education through Conversation Analysis, multimodal discourse analysis, and corpus-informed research. In Fall 2026, I will join the University of Konstanz as an Erasmus+ exchange student, where I will continue my graduate studies on English-medium higher education and multilingual learning environments.

Alongside my graduate studies, I serve as an Assistant Coordinator in the Turkish Language Association’s National Turkish Corpus Project, contributing to the development of Türkiye’s national corpus. I am also a member of DISCORE (DIscourse and COrpus REsearch Group) at Middle East Technical University, where I actively participate in reading groups, data analysis sessions, and collaborative research on discourse, interaction, and corpus linguistics.

Outside academia, I enjoy expressing creativity through improvisational theatre, ceramics, and photography. These interests have also led me to contribute to university communities as a social media manager, ceramics instructor, and event photographer. I believe creativity and research complement one another, each encouraging curiosity and new ways of seeing the world.
